The Car was Transferred (two weeks of updates)

Interesting week for sure! Started out with running into this inactive old lady. She had the opportunity to receive some sort of Revelation before (Which is great!). However, I believe that has kind of shot up and because her family already thinks she is crazy for being a Mormon, she has taken it upon herself to be crazy. She is very nice but refers to herself as a Prophetess and tells everyone she sees visions. Who knows if she really is or not. Beats me. But she has called the local authorities to inform them that she had a vision of a big black guy being the guy they are looking for in a Murder case... It was quite an interesting visit needless to say.

We got a new Old couple missionaries in our area! This will be interesting. They are in their 70's and this mission is basically their honeymoon... Awkwardly enough.... Basically, they got married 5 years ago and now they are out and on a mission. They still have some things to learn but seem eager to help and it will definitely be a ton of help! They can drive people and such. Which helps a ton! They are also able to connect with people easier. Their names are Elder and Sister Baker. Elder Baker is a cowboy and Sister Baker is a piano lady. So definitely interesting additions. I have learned that I sing "Tenor" as in "'Ten or' eleven miles off pitch." hehehe  I thought it was a funny joke when I heard it.

All is well. We have our first official lesson with an official investigator today! It's kind of nerve racking but exciting! It is the first time we'll have an official sit down lesson... Usually it is just "Other lessons" That we teach at doors or with Less Actives... Hopefully this goes good. It should! It was a referral.

This week during church the bishopric got up and made this huge deal about feeding the missionaries. Then Sister Lawrence bore her testimony and added that she loves the missionaries and to feed us. SO, we actually got a couple people to sign up! Exciting! Only 1 has canceled so far. Usually the Lawrences feed us after service every week and then another family does. Averaging 2 meals a week. Which is great! We might get up to 3. But everyone is also rushing to feed the Senior missionaries. haha

Let's just hope no one decides to poison us like the bishop did. This last week Bishop fed us and all four of us were sick the next day. Which made proselyting not as fun....

All is well though! All is well! Loving my mission. Starting to really get the feel for this. I got the opportunity to attend the temple this last Saturday because we had extra miles so we went early in the morning. It was great! Definitely a needed experience to help me. Got some good prayers in there. Plus got to see the recent changes with the video (definitely liked them).

I just realized the other day that my favorite scripture used to be D&C 135:3. Go figure. Now I'm here in the cradle of the Restoration of this Gospel. And my testimony is exploding!

Well, I survived my first transfer. 6 weeks out in the field.

No one in our apartment got transferred which is good! I think there is too much to do in our area to let anyone go quite yet.

This week went pretty good. The numbers didn't look too well because I hate numbers but we seemed to be doing a lot of good work. Just trying to reach out to as many people as possible.

Our first lesson with the investigator went well. He is honestly looking for a change in his life and looking for religion. Which is awesome! We are excited to keep talking to him. He seems very interested. He is just looking for a confirmation on where to go. He is attending other Churches and was unable to attend our church this last week. But he might come next week!

We also got to meet a daughter and a single mother last night! They were awesome! We got the referral from another Elder (A Zone leader). He was able to go with us and ease us into it. He is leaving to go home on Wednesday so he wanted to make sure they are still being talked to. Great pair! The mother is awesome mother and spunky lady. The 15 year old girl has such a bright future ahead of her. Smart. Talented. Way well rounded. I'm just praying that she keeps her head straight and doesn't follow the path every teenager does out here (Sex, drugs, etc). She does seem like she is focused though.

Frank (Our Morgan Freeman Look-a-like Less Active Cheif awesome guy) came to church on Sunday!! Woooo!!! It was AWESOME! We were so excited and so happy! We are hoping that this continues to be a trend and a pattern. We also had this one lady who is less active come back to church for the second week in a row! Pretty exciting stuff. We hope to continue with the Less active work and get people coming. Grow the ward a little.

The ward decided to take this huge push on feeding the missionaries. Which seemed really great at first. We had an appointment for everyday! It was crazy! But every other day cancels for some reason or another. So I'm not sure how willing they are or if they feel obligated to. I just feel really awkward/bad when they ask people to feed us... It's just "hey.. I can like feed myself.. Don't go too far out of your way.." and we just try to help them out with something or another to help.

Anyway, that was going great but he wants the families to feed the missionaries over their area (Since there is 2 sets of missionaries in the ward, 2 areas). Which kind of blows for us because all the members are in the other missionaries area.... Except like 2. Oh well.

Something interesting happened this morning. We got a call from the AP's informing us that we get the blessing of no longer having a car.... This will be quite the interesting next 18 weeks or so that I will be in the area. It's a little bit of a hiccup but I'm trying not to get frustrated over it. It's just most of our appointments are 7.5 miles 1 way (The equivalent of our old house to Draper) of a bike ride... I hate wasting the time riding the bike. I don't mind riding it. I just hate wasting the 30-45 minutes. But there will be more opportunities for us to talk to random people on the street I guess. On that note though, the current bike for me here is a junker and needs replacing. So I guess I'm going bike shopping.... Yay for spending money. Haha I swear there is always something else I need out here. Luckily, I have amazon to usually make things cheaper.

We have to rearrange how we split up the ward into the 2 areas again... Because our area was all of Cheektowaga, Elma, Bennington. Which is about 25 miles across flying straight. I don't quite know from the winding roads. So we will only be able to be in Cheektowaga and maybe a little bit of Elma as far as 10-15 miles. Which loses us our investigator family putting us back down to 1 investigator. It's a hiccup but we'll work through it. It'll be an interesting winter....

As far as everything goes, it is going pretty well. Just a few hiccups but work to be done.
