Cold Front

This week has been a little bit of a colder one than the rest. And the heating doesn't work in our apartment. So woke up to a couple 60 degree apartment in the mornings. Which for me (since I get cold easily) was cold! I don't know how I would have survived before electricity.

This week we had a couple of different service opportunities. We helped move some furniture in a house of a deceased member that was left to another member in his Will to deal with. So they are trying to organize it and give away things to those people who need it. We also got to go over to the Newcomb's property (historical property from like 1820 that has been handed down from generation to generation).  They had a huge tree stump that was blocking the creek from flowing through this large cement pipe under an old railroad. So we had to jump in and yank branches and chop it up. It was muddy and fun. Except Mosquitos were biting. I left with about a dozen bites and they still itch! We also got to help a lady in the ward who just got married to completely clean out her house (long story). Her new husband is investigating the church. Her late husband was actually a convert named Joseph Smith (another funny story). I'll have to send some pictures I snagged when no one was looking. It is kind of the typical NY situation. It was bad.

Lots of tracting this week. Marked off a couple more streets on the map as tracted. No real luck so far. Luckily, people in Greece are oddly really nice. Like night and day difference from all my other areas. They generally just say no thanks and shut the door rather than yelling. Which helps to keep tracting if you're not getting yelled at.

Had Zone Conference this last Wednesday. Same old, Same old on zone conference. They are having us read through Preach My Gospel as a mission. They gave us a reading schedule. They also are changing things with dinner appointments. You can only have dinner appointments with those members in your area (rather than anyone in the ward/branch/unit). Which will add an extra challenge considering they are all in the other area.

Still trying to figure out how to motivate my trainee in the work and to get out of bed. It's a work in progress.

And.... We definitely found a Hobo's home behind the other Elder's apartment. Built under a tree/bush. That was funny. Really sad that someone actually lives in it.

The other elders had a baptismal date for this Saturday! A lady named Cassie who just came to church last week. She is just in love with the doctrine (she knew a bunch of it before hand) and is super ready.  Fingers crossed on that one! They've taught her 3 different times this week. The main problem is she was a referral and pretty much lives in this area. But her actual house is in Rochester. So.... She is in a different ward. So that could cause a future issue.

Biking has been easy this week as it has been cooler. The purple bike I'm riding has been an interesting adventure. But at least the breaks work on this one! Elder Roberts is still figuring out the whole riding bike thing so I have to go kind of really slow.

We finally might get something going with the ward missionaries.  Fingers crossed on that one. Hopefully it'll help get more referrals, more member presents and mainly just a more missionary mindset of a ward.
